As a stay-at-home mom who works about 4 part-time jobs (at home and away from home) on top of having a rambunctious 2 year old, I don’t spend the time to wash my hair as often as I used to. I usually wash my hair 2-3 times a week. Most days I pull it up in a ponytail, but I wanted the option to pull it down when I would go out. However, it looks greasy some days and I need something to help hide that appearance. I tried powder, but that was kind of tedious and messy. This Homemade Dry shampoo recipe is great solution to this issue – just spray, dry, and go.
I searched the store for dry shampoo, I tried a few and quickly tired of paying $3 and $4 for the kinds that I liked. So, I determined there had to be a way to make it at home and here it is:
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 4 tablespoons of water
- 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol
Mix together, pour into a spray bottle and give it a shake! (Preferably a misting bottle.) Now, spray anywhere on your hair that needs to be de-greased.
Just dampen your hair with the solution and run a comb or your fingers through your hair to distribute it evenly, then hit it with the blow-dryer. Repeat if necessary.
